Benton County Sheriff's Mounted Posse is proud to host a yearly ride for children with disabilities and their siblings. This event was started by former member Linda Balzer in 2010.
This event is for children (2-18 years old) with disabilities and their siblings- whether they have a disability or not! Anyone riding must be able to sit up in a saddle by themselves and must be wearing closed toe shoes.
There will be volunteers walking beside the horse to help ensure rider safety. Riders will mount horses with a mounting block with help from volunteers and will walk a lap around the arena. The horses, led by members of the posse, will stop for a green screen photo that will later be emailed to parents.
Upon arrival we ask parents of riders to sign a liability and photo release wavier. We will provide printed copies at the event. Helmets have been generously donated and will be provided by the posse.
Helmets were donated by Starker Forest, Out West Feed and Farm Supply, Bit-by-Bit Equine Therapy, Kylee Henderer and Family of Henderer Building and Design, Cascadia Equine Vet Clinic and Dr. Whitcliff, and Erkia Masada.
Vinyl stickers for the helmets were donated by Megan Walker (https://www.facebook.com/dubmdesigns ). Ribbons were donated by Bit-by-Bit Equine Therapy.
We thank our donors and volunteers for making this wonderful event happen.
