Horses can be valuable assets in search and rescue operations due to their natural abilities and attributes. They are able to access difficult terrain, search more area than people on foot, are able to transport supplies and people, and have high endurance. Our horses as well as ourselves go through multiple trainings to be able to assist in rescues.
When wildfires swept through Oregon, the mounted posse was there to help evacuate livestock. Available posse members drove into areas being evacuated and transported livestock to safety.
We love interacting and giving back to the community by hosting our yearly Special Needs Ride.
The mounted posse loves to interact with the community through public events. You can find us at events such as the Mt. Union Memorial Celebration in Philomath, the annual Chili Cook-off, and even some local parades. You can find any upcoming events in our current events page.
The posse can be found educating the public through fun events about horses such as visiting Muddy Creek Charter School to teach kids about horse safety.
